Excursion in 4X4 in the High Atlas to discover the hidden jewel of Marrakech which is the agafay desert combined with the discovery of the High Atlas region, the 3 valleys and the Berber villages.
To reach the valley of Imlil, at the bottom of Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa with 4167m of altitude, and the main starting point for hikers who come to discover what can be called the roof of North Africa; we will crisscross the majestic scenery of the High Atlas region and its traditional hamlets. We will cross the Berber village of Asni Ouirgane to arrive in Imlil to enjoy a typical and copious local meal.
The trip will continue, following this village, to Moulay Brahim. You will enjoy an exceptional panorama mixing canyons, plateaus and high mountains leading to the gates of the Agafay desert, considered as the jewel of Marrakech where there is an oasis that serves as a home to the local fauna and flora. Then the Kik Plateau, overlooked by the High Atlas mountain range, will face you, reaching 4,000 meters in altitude.
This luxuriant nature adapts to the seasons where the ochre color is in value at the time of the culture of the ground and dresses itself of a white veil in winter. The shimmering green of Spring tends to a yellow at the time of the harvest, following the months of hard work.
To finish our 4X4 Excursion in the High Atlas and the Agafay desert, we will return to Marrakech by paths crossing the Agafay desert while passing by the Lake of Lalla Takerkoust.
The Agafay desert is still little developed touristically speaking.
This desert territory is a series of hills tending towards the white. You will be carried by your imagination to be in the middle of a grandiose lunar landscape.
Don’t miss this marvelous EXCURSION DESERT AGAFAY AND HIGH ATLAS just a step away from the city of Marrakech. The return to the hotel, with stars in your eyes, will take place around 5:30 pm.
The lake of the dam of Lalla Takerkoust, at 30 km in the south-west, is a place appreciated by the Marrakchis. It is also the starting point of excursions on the plateau of Kik. A nice circuit of discovery of the Berber mountain in one day consists in going up on the plateau by Lalla Takerkoust to come down by the village of Moulay Brahim and the valley of Asni.
Imlil, 64 km away, is the starting point for hikes to Mount Toubkal (the highest peak in the High Atlas, 4,167 m). This small Berber village alone is worth an excursion to discover the atmosphere of the Berber mountains.
The Agafay Desert, the hidden jewel of Marrakech, is a desert located only 40 minutes from Marrakech and little known by tourists.
This place remains the ideal solution for vacationers who do not have much time to visit the desert of southern Morocco, which remains a bit remote, and who still want to discover the charm and magic of the desert.
The Agafay desert offers several options for tourists who wish to visit it such as: Quad rides in half-day or full-day; camel rides, Buggy rides as well as Moroccan folklore evenings in the desert.
